Located adjacent to the Nantahala National Forest, campers and cabin users at Nelson's Nantahala Hideaway can access the trails of the Appletree area directly from the campground. Over 15 miles of trails overlay the wooded ridges and the tumbling cascades of the forest. With a little effort you can be deep in the heart of the Appletree area on Piercy creek.

You can also walk the path of America's most famous naturalist, William Bartram. The Bartram Trail actually leads to the boater launch site on the Nantahala River. Campers can stretch their legs on two shorter campground walks that offer nice rewards.
